Endometriosis is when endometrium like tissue grows outside the uterus.

1 in 10 people with a uterus have endometriosis and is often misdiagnosed or dismissed as just “normal period pain”. But it’s so much more than that. It’s a debilitating condition that can cause:

🔹Pelvic pain

🔹Painful sex (dyspareunia)

🔹Painful periods (dysmenorrhea)

🔹Pain with bowel movements

🔹Pain with urination

🔹Heavy periods (menorrhagia)

🔹Fertility challenges

🔹Bloating

🔹Fatigue

🔹Nausea

🔹Low back pain

On average it takes 8-10 years to be diagnosed and the only way to have an accurate diagnosis is with surgery.

Treatment options vary from conservative management with pelvic floor physical therapy to help with improve symptoms, to more invasive excision surgery to remove the lesions and adhesions.

Don’t suffer in silence. Speak up and seek help. You are not alone in this fight. Let’s raise awareness and work towards better diagnosis, treatment, and support for everyone affected by endometriosis.
